Community Piano Program

Through the Community Piano program, members of the Tucson community can take piano lessons with University of Arizona students enrolled in piano pedagogy. The University of Arizona pedagogy students will be mentored by Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy, Dr. Grace Ho

The mission of the Community Piano program is to 

  • Provide practical training for University of Arizona piano pedagogy students
  • Deliver affordable piano lessons for Tucson community members
  • Expand the piano community in Tucson by welcoming beginning-level students

Eligibility: 

  • All ages welcome
  • Beginning level students preferred
  • Subject to availability

Policies: 

  • Guardian or third-party chaperone must be present during lessons for students who are minors
  • Tuition is $300 for the semester, to be paid upon invoice at the beginning of the semester
  • Tuition includes the cost of twelve 30-minute weekly private lessons and participation in the recital at the end of the semester
  • Missed lessons will not be rescheduled
  • Students are expected to practice at least 20-30 minutes a day

  • How much do lessons cost?  $25 per lesson.
  • How long will the lessons be?  Weekly lessons are 30 minutes long.
  • Is there a selection process for community participants? Participants will be accepted on a “first come, first served” basis.
  • Can UA students take lessons through Community Piano? The Community Piano program is intended for Tucson community members outside of UA. UA students have access to piano courses through the School of Music. 
  • Do you only accept beginners?  We prioritize beginners. However, we will accept intermediate-level students if spots are available.
